Nessebar is
one of the oldest towns in Europe and the richest in
architectural monuments from medieval Bulgaria. The first
settlement on the peninsula was established in 3000 BC.
There lived the Thracians in the earliest period of the
history of Nessebar. They gave the town its original name –
Messambria.
It is situated on a small
peninsula, Nessebar has more than 40 ancient churches with
wonderful facades and interiors. The narrow cobbled roads,
the old picturesque houses with wooden windows, the old
harbor, the fish restaurants, all that give a unique
romantic atmosphere to the town which is as well an open
museum and a real shopping paradise. |
